About the Role

Samsung Research AI is looking for world class research engineers to join its AI Lab. The Montreal AI lab addresses robotics, machine learning, natural language and related technologies. At the AI Lab you will apply research, develop algorithms and solve problems using the latest hardware and software tools, using skills in path planning, kinematics, machine learning and control.

Responsibilities Include:

Leverage the deep research work and findings to develop and program integrated software algorithms to solve new problems.
Analyze and leverage research data in product and systems applications in both structured and unstructured environments.
Develop and communicate descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights/algorithms.
In theoretical development environments and specific product design, implementation and improvement environments, uses current programming language and technologies to translate algorithms and technical specifications and research into code.
Adapts machine learning to areas such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics and other products that allow users to have an interactive experience.
Evaluate and test approaches and technologies to produce state-of-the-art solutions.
Build, integrate and optimize modern hybrid hardware-software systems to develop exciting new devices.
Develop and communicate descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights/algorithms.
Translate mathematical and algorithmic problem specifications into efficient deployable code.
Develop effective implementations that work in physical hardware that may include performance constraints on physical abilities, singularities, memory of CPU capacity.
Manage the tradeoffs between perception, planning, computational cost and solution quality that are implicit in deployment on physical systems.
In theoretical development environments and specific product design, implementation and improvement environments, uses current programming language and technologies to translate algorithms and technical specifications and research into code.
Adapts machine learning to areas such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics and other products that allow users to have an interactive experience.
Develop and debug hybrid systems with novel hardware, software and electromechanical elements.

Requirements

Experience Requirements:  

Master's or PhD Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering or related field. Software development experience with ROS. Experience developing large software systems, preferably as part of a team. Experience programming, testing and using real mechatronic, robotics or image processing hardware. Data analysis and software development experience with MATLAB, Numpy, etc.
