About the Role
One of the key advantages of our products is their ease of use. We then take special care in the preparation of our technical manuals (https://www.mecademic.com/en/downloads). With the imminent arrival of new products and in the context of growing worldwide demand for our products, we need to take our technical documentation process to the next level (improved versioning management, translation into multiple languages, production of online versions, etc.).
We are therefore looking for a seasoned technical writer with computer literacy, excellent writing and technical editing skills, and a particular concern for clarity and simplicity. Under the responsibility of the Director of Research and Development (R&D) and in close collaboration with our scientific advisor, the Technical Writer will work daily with certain members of the R&D and Technical Support departments, in order to produce an exemplary documentation that equips users to qu '' they can make the most of Mecademic products. Among other things, you will have to write all the technical manuals for our products starting with reworking the content of existing ones, and based on drafts provided by the developers, and photos and figures provided by the technical support engineers.
Your agenda
• Be responsible of any request for updating the technical documentation;
• Collaborate closely with the appropriate technical experts to gather the elements necessary for the development of content;
• Write and revise the official technical documentation, ensuring the clarity and consistency of the texts, including visual elements to better communicate information, and respecting the standards in force (for example, IEC 82079);
• Format the content using LaTeX software, or other tools, as needed;
• Prepare the translation projects sent externally and generate the final translated projects;
• Ensure the consistency of technical notes written independently and in English by the support department (https://support.mecademic.com) with the official technical documentation.
Requirements
As an ideal candidate: • Work experience (5 years minimum) as a technical writer on different types of technical documentation such as programming guides and user guides; • Computer skills ; • Impeccable level of fluency in English, both written and spoken; • Mastery of the French language ; • Experience in documentary production using LaTeX and versioning tools (Git or SVN); • Experience using tracking tools such as JIRA to track tasks.
